This has saved my life this week. I'm so grateful that I feel it needs a blog post, so I never forget how it has changed my life. Evie and I have had a cold this week. I think neither one of us would have slept this week and Evie would not have drank anything without this fabulous invention.

The amount of snot you can get out with the nosefrida is amazing. I have thought about using it on myself a few times this week to help with my own congestion.

And since I am on the subject of useful baby items, I'll add this little gem. Makes solid feeding so simple and easy (cheap the cost of baby food is ridiculous).

Yes, I know the last time I posted Evie was 6 weeks. I should just give up on this blogging thing once and for all. But, I really have enjoyed looking back at what I've posted, even if it is very little. I'm 29 now so, I need all the help I can get remembering what happens in my so called. I've decided to just enjoy what I can get even if it is only quarterly posts. With these 2 little girls I have 2 goals (1) survive (2) have fun. I'm definitely not accomplishing even half of my "to do lists" and I have come to accept that and almost do away with those lists all together. My girls are healthy and happy and so am I, what more could I ask for.

Evie had her 6 month appointment today. Shots are the worst, period. It was sweet to see Diem concerned for her lil sis and giving her hugs and kisses to make her all better. Anyways, Evie is the same size as Diem at 6 months.Stats : 17.5 lbs 27 inches. Well almost, she is 1/4 of an inch shorter. I know all the measurements don't really matter or predict anything, but I'm surprised she has caught up to Diem since she started 2 lbs smaller and 2 inches shorter at birth. 6 months old is great. I like all the stages, but I really love it right now. Both her and Diem are in really fun stages. Bret and I have been saying things like "you two should just stay this way for a little bit longer" "no need to grow up anymore, we have this stage figured out". Evie sits up, rolls around playing with toys, and interacts with us through smiles, giggles, and loud jibberish. I'm enjoying her being non mobile for a few more months. How do you baby proof with a 2 year old? I'm dreading it. She started eating food a few weeks ago. So far she is digging bananas, avocados, and oatmeal. Prevacid is still our best friend around here. The 3 months Evie has been on it have been much easier with no nursing strikes and happy memories associated with food compared to the 3 months without were we suffered through 4 nursing strikes lasting up to 4 days with aversion and fear towards eating. It so great having a baby around, they bring such a sweet spirit with them.

Nick names thus far: Evie Bell, Eves, Evers, Everskeever, Blue Evie

Sometimes Evie looks just like Diem and other times not at all. She probably just looks like her because she wears all the same outfits Diem wore. But, I think we can all agree DM and EV are sisters. And I'm so happy for that. Seriously, these girls have a friend for life. In no time they will be choreographing dances, getting dirty in the backyard, playing school and barbies- I'm just thinking of the fun things I used to do with my sister, little BZ. I wasn't planning on having kids so close, but I'm really glad I did (I couldn't start saying that until Evie was about 4 months old). These two love each other and I know they will have so much fun playing, teasing, and fighting with each other as they grow up.

Diem is so sweet to Evie and is the best helper. She tells me all the time "I love my sister, mom". She gives her a binky and burpy when she is sad because that is what Diem likes when she is sad. She runs into Evie's room when she hears her saying, "Evie's awake" and then climbs up on her crib. Evie's smiling is so big, she couldn't be any happier than when Diem comes to play with her in her crib.

Diem is a 2 year old, what more can I say. She brightens up my day, it is so refreshing to see the world through a 2 year olds eyes. I will be so sad when she stops galloping and running around everywhere, I wish I had that much energy. She still does not like to be the center of attention, but wants to join in on the fun. Especially, if the fun has to anything to do with her beloved cousins. She finally goes to nursery on her own, Hallelujah. It only took her a year. She really has grown up these last couple months into a big girl. Some fun things she says right now: " what you saying about" "i need to tell you something" "i love you so much" " what doing today" "where going tonight" "Evie touch my curls". And finally at 2 1/2 she decided to smile for the camera instead of running away. We now have a lot of the classic "cheese" face pictures.

We deal with "no" a lot and her wanting to do everything her way and by herself. Giving her choices helps, but by nap time I start running out of tricks. Thank goodness she is still a good napper, we both value our sleep and alone time.

Christmas was a success, so much fun with kids. Diem understood the whole Santa Claus thing, but didn't care about what presents she got. She just wanted "toys". It was so nice to enjoy some family time while Bret was on break for 2 weeks.

The Bergstrom Babes survived their first week without Dad around. It was priceless having Bret around for the first 6 weeks after Evie's birth. But, life goes on and I'm learning how to juggle a 2 year old and baby. Who wouldn't want to hang out with these two cuties.

Diem turned 2 on May 25, it was a fun day. Lunch at the park with the Chipman cousins, Elliott and Jensen where even here. Followed by dinner, cake, and some bouncy house fun at the Bergstroms.

Diem is my little buddy. She is a sweetheart and gives the best hugs and kisses and tells me, "love you, see you soon." When she is excited to do something she says, "wahoo" or "yeah, ok." She is always asking, "uh oh what happened " (yes, I think of the movie a Mighty Wind almost every time), and "where (insert anyones name here) go." She likes to color, play outside, throw rocks and sticks in water, catch bugs and have them go "night night", play at the park, watch Sesame Street, and play with her cousins.

I have some serious catching up to do. Some things have changed, but most things are still the same. Diem still looks more like her dad and her uncle Tony than she looks like me and gets mistaken for being older than she is. She won't be 2 years old for a little bit longer, but she sure is growing up. She is starting to put two words together, "that's daddy's" "more cheese" "thank you mommy". She loves playing with her cousins and asks for Lane and Teagan all day long. She takes good care of her baby dolls and makes delicious food in her kitchen. She all of the sudden likes watching movies, this is both good and bad. Toy Story 3 is her favorite for the time being, she calls it big baby. Should I be worried her favorite character is the creepy big baby? At least I know what she will want to be for Halloween, it should be an easy costume to throw together. I have been horrible at taking pictures, but here are a few to get us caught up.

Fall 2010- Diem was a giraffe for halloween. I tried to get her to say "I have a long neck" when asked what a giraffe says. She never caught on, but loves the costume and still wears it around.

Oh how we miss jumping on the tramp at grandma and grandpas. We can't wait for Spring.
Christmas 2010- Diem was spoiled like every kid should be. She loves her baby stroller and is very possessive of it. Seriously it is a little scary, it is the one thing I can't get her to share with other kids.

It is always a good time in her play kitchen. And yes those are 5 pound weights in the fridge. Her playroom is also Bret's workout room, so in her mind food and workout equipment go together.

Football

It's that time again. Football time.

We are enjoying our weekly routine of high school, little league, and Utah football.

Diem started saying football last week, it was a proud parent moment for Bret.

This girl is so dang cute. We are having so much fun this summer.

We had fun with Grandma Lori at the zoo. Diem people/bird watched, she wasn't to interested in any of the other animals there.

She has some new tricks: unloading the dishwasher and crawling while drinking her milk.

Diem really likes birds. OK, she may have a slight obsession with them. If we are inside she is at the back door or front window looking for them while signing and saying bird. She bangs on the door to go outside to chase the birds. And when we are outside she'll point out every bird in sight. For the record Diem's first word - bird, Diem's second word- birdies. What can I say she loves them. I love that she is finding new ways to communicate everyday. It is crazy watching her grow and learn so fast.

Diem is a walker... well almost. She started walking in the kiddie pool at the gym (6/8/10) once she realized she couldn't crawl and keep her head above the water. And the practice in the water translated to land. That night she started walking all over. She has been taking over 10 steps, stopping and starting, and not losing her balance. The last two days she has been on a walking strike, but I give it until the end of next week and she'll be walking.

Well, that is the big update. I threw in a picture of Diem crawling for the record. She finally decided she was tired of dragging herself around.

It is so hard to get a picture of this girl looking at the camera. I usually just get a nice picture of the back of her head, curly hair and all.

I know you may think this post is a little late, but Diem was born on Memorial Day (Diem), so I think I posted it right in time. Diem's birthday was on Tuesday, she is officially one -- crazy. We had a birthday bash at our house. It was so much fun. Diem is so lucky to have such a large family that love and support her. I was looking forward to her eating the traditional 1 year old birthday cake. She wasted her cake in no time. I was a little worried she might lose a finger, good thing she only has four little teeth. She was spoiled by her grandparents, aunt and uncles, and cousins. I still can't believe our little star is one. Happy Birthday Day Day, we love you!

Wow, only one more month until Diem is a big one year old. We won't be able to call her baby Diem much longer... 1) because she is growing up. I swear every morning when I get her from her crib she has gotten bigger and just looks a older. and 2) she will have a new baby cousin on both sides of the family in the fall. Congrats Emily and Jessica we are super excited.

We went to Las Vegas and St. George during Bret's spring break. We stayed with Colin, Nancy, and Elliott. We had a great time, it was so nice of them to let us crash at their place and show us around town. Diem loved playing with Elliott, she followed her around everywhere. And Elliott entertained as usual. that girl is so dang funny. We glad she is coming for a visit soon.

St. George was a blast. Not quite as relaxing as we are used to, but still tons of fun and just the break we needed. Diem loved the pool and playing outside in the perfect weather.

Let's see new things Diem has done this month...

~She knows what a bear and a monkey say, and is working on her pig and elephant noises. She will sign "cookie" and "cheese".

~She loves cruising along furniture and just recently started scaling walls and standing up in her crib. She loves, loves, loves to crawl up stairs and loves trying to go head first back down them even more. She still doesn't crawl traditionally, I lovingly refer to her mode of transportation as dragging herself around like a cripple. It works for her, she gets where she needs to go..

~Climbing into cupboards and emptying the contents one by one. She also likes emptying things from baskets and purses.

~She loves to sleep and eat. Except when she has hand, foot, and mouth- thank goodness she got over that quickly. She is back to her old self, at Sunday dinner she was going around begging for people's dessert.

~She is not a fan of kisses, she is sometimes good for a hug, but she is always down for a good old head butt.

Diem is happy, independent, curious, calm/content, and shy. She is our little star.

I made her work for it though she walked along the entire length of our sectional. But 2010 was supposed to be my year.

Well, not really (1) I'm considered ancient in skating years and (2) I guess I wasn't that good since I'm not even on the podium.

~That sure was fun though~

Sometimes I wish I was that age again or just felt like I did when I was 9. Carefree and fearless- sincerely having dreams as big as the Olympics. I'm so thankful for the experiences I had growing up. For parents who supported me and my childhood dreams and desires.

Childhood is a magical time. I love watching Diem explore and experience this world. She is getting bigger and learning more each day. Remembering my fun times as a kid has made me excited to watch Diem grow up. This is something I have been nervous about (I want her to be my baby forever), but it is going to happen, I mean it is happening. So here we go Diem, this is going to be fun.

Diem helped me make some brinner last night. It was delicious as always. She even added a little extra ingredient. That shiny snot runny down from her nose. Just kidding, but she officially has her first cold, so much for breastfeeding. I guess we're lucky she went this long without one.

In other (none important )news. Cadbury mini eggs are the devil. I have finished a whole bag in less than a week and it is only March 5. Easter is a whole month away!

LOVE this girl!

Diem still looks like Bret, but apparently her personality is just like mine as a baby. At least she got something from me.

She is thinning out because she has the army crawl down and is always on the move. It is so sad watching the rolls on her thighs disappear.

Happy Late Valentine's day! We had a great weekend full of playing and relaxing. Diem started saying mama-mama. I know she doesn't know what it means, but it still melts my heart. It was the perfect V-day present.

I know your probably looking at this picture saying, "real good idea letting your baby play with a soda can." Well it is. She loves them (always has probably because mom always has one near by)and it makes her show off her "swimming" moves. "Swimming" is what we call her mode of crawling. It looks like she is doing the side stroke/freestyle combined with a big push off of her foot and she is pretty much good to go anywhere she wants. Not a very effecient use of energy, but it works and is pretty funny to watch.

Today she had a few firsts:
~1st time wearing her new outfit inspired by her aunt Breanne's favorite color combo -- navy blue, yellow, and gray.
~1st time swimming. She loved it! Thanks for inviting us Elsie.

Diem took a little tumble and hurt her wrist. She had a splint for a few days and now has a cast. We have nicknamed it "chicken wing" because she loves to shake it around. She has been a tough girl throughout the whole thing. Sometimes I forget she even has a cast until she clubs me in the face with it.

DIEM'S Nemesis

Your first thought is probably nox noctis {night}.

But this is not a story about opposites. It is a bittersweet tale of Diem's clash with a tree.

Diem really likes the tree on her play mat. She enjoys the bright green color,the crinkly paper noise it makes, and its delicious taste {I assume this fact because it is always dripping with her drool}.

So why would something she loves so much be her nemesis?

Well, it is stitched to the play mat. And no matter how hard Diem tries {she is very persistent} the tree will not come along with her everywhere she rolls. This has caused her to express an emotion we have not yet seen-frustration. Oh boy, does she get mad. She squeals and cries, tries to eat it and pull it off, and squeals and cries some more.

We had a fun weekend in Las Vegas cheering on the Utes and hanging out with family. Thanks to Colin, Nancy and Elliott for letting us crash at their place. I showed no self control at H&M and bought way to much for Diem, I guess a girl can never have enough clothes. I forgot to pack the camera, along with many other things... so I don't have proof that our mini-vaca was fun filled you'll just have to trust me on that one.

And what can I say about Diem except she is the best. All you parents now how I feel. She is just busy being a cute, little baby. She rolls all over, plays with her toys, drools all over everything, tells very long and loud stories, laughs, sleeps well and eats well. She still looks like her daddy with her mom's eyebrows. We love our baby Diem.

I've been having a hard time capturing her smile in photos. When ever I get the camera out she is determined to find a way to grab it and stick it in her mouth.

I have avoided this post as long as I can.

I have realized- summer is almost over, our month of vacation was over 4 weeks ago, my baby Diem is getting huge, and we are back to the real world.

Which means time to go back to work. My transition back to work has gone better than expected. I remembered how to be a nurse, Diem sleeps for her daddy at night, and gets some grandma time in during the day. I've decided the reason I have a blog is so when I'm at work in the middle of the night missing my baby I can look at pictures.

Well the point of this post is to show you the remainder of our fun vacations. We spent a week in San Diego because Bret had some training for work. It was great to be there just with our little family.

Dear McCall: we miss you

Two weeks in McCall is never enough. It is such a peaceful place. It was a little cold this year, but it made for some nice water. Which Bret was able to take advantage of. Me on the other hand... let's just say my postpartum body was not up for it. The picture below is why we love this place, it is noon and there is not a bump in sight.

2 Months at Newport Beach

Diem turned 2 months while we were in Newport with my family (two weeks ago, I'm a little behind). Needless to say she had a wonderful 2 month birthday party. In Newport it is a party every day and night. Diem loved napping on the beach, walking down the boardwalk at night, and playing with her cousins. We miss doughnuts every morning and hanging with the family all the time. Goodbye Newport until 2010.

OH really stupid thief who stole our much loved BOB stroller while enjoying a show at Sea World?
You steal from a helpless little baby that loves sleeping in her BOB on the beach and on walks/runs while her mommy tries to shed some pounds. I hope you have nightmares of me, the crying post-partum mother, punching you in the face.
OH really Sea World?
You have a stroller parking area outside of shows, an attendant who makes sure you don't bring your stroller into the show, but does not stay to make sure no one steals it. Then do very little to help once a stroller goes missing. And then after a horrible day of looking for our BOB and staring down every one thinking they are thieves you offer to refund our parking ($12) if we bring in our receipt which is in the car a mile away.
OH really 17 other BOB owners I say at Sea World?
Why didn't your stroller get swiped? Why was my beautiful, burnt- orange BOB the target for the day? Your all lucky I didn't swipe yours and make a killing on Craig's List, but instead warned you to take a wheel off if leaving it outside an attraction.

So when you get that feeling I shouldn't leave this really nice stroller unattended, but second guess yourself because everyone else is doing it... Trust your gut.
All you BOB owners give your stroller a little hug the next time you use it, keep it as far away from Sea World as possible, and try to help me figure out the lesson I am supposed to learn from this?

After a 10 month hiatus from running I'm ready to rejoin the club. I know it won't be easy, but I'm going to give it my all. Hopefully my new running accessories will make things easier and less painful.

Diem hanging out ohhing and ahhing at the cute skirt aunt Breanne gave her.
This was taken after her first day at church. She started to fuss a little during sacrament meeting, so I gave her a binky. Bret asked me what I was doing and reminded me if she is noisy you get to take her out. I'm pretty sure we will fight over who gets to take her out next week.

Many milestones have happened in the last week.

Diem is four weeks (and is cuter and heavier than last week), had her first bottle, and made her first of many trips to the pool.

This proud daddy had his first official father's day.

Shout out to Papa B as well. Thanks for all you do.

This little gal turned the big one! Happy Birthday Teagan. Her little bud turned one last month. Happy Late Birthday Grady!

Diem is 3 weeks! She is rocking a rat's tail and a new bald spot where I insist on putting a bow everyday. She is changing all the time and even starting to get a little more alert. Here are some pics, enjoy.

This is late post, but better late than never. Sara & Erik's wedding was June 6th congrats guys. The whole weekend was so fun and Diem was very happy she could attend and have her first trip to the temple.
